Experience

I tutored Pre-Calculus to a high school student at a behavioral alternative school. He was a senior and needed the class to graduate. He otherwise wouldn't of had acquired his diploma. He had a D in the class and only had to take a few quizzes and a final before the release of final grades. I helped him turn his final grade to an A in a matter of two or three weeks. I enjoy teaching and helping students with subjects that they believe to be too difficult and stressful. Every student has a comfort zone, and stretching those mental and psychological boundaries can be tiresome and difficult when teachers only reinforce a student's decline of self esteem with book talk. The subjects of science and math are fragile and can be frightening to many students. Maybe you've never been good with numbers or procedural, step-wise problem solving. Maybe those models of atoms are difficult to visualize and comprehend, or maybe you feel too overwhelmed with understanding organic chemistry to complete the practical work that is asked of you. I can make all of these things much easier for you and make the material relatable to the things that you do know and things that you do very well. I instruct on a level of which you understand. Bad teachers and tutors make you push beyond what you know and then tell you to keep up when you get lost. Good ones are always right there with you. I like tutoring because teachers often don't have time to focus on one student alone. Many teachers simply refuse to go that extra mile. I teach a student for the entirety of the time they are with me and give that one student my undivided attention.
